Dan Brown was a beloved Fresno State football coach in California. No one would think that his life would be cut short so soon. He suddenly developed brain cancer and died in March of last year at the young age of 50. Before he slipped into a coma, he asked his wife, Mindy Brown, to tell the world the unexpected cause of his cancer. He believed that his cancer came from cell phone radiation. Mrs. Brown decided to take the initiative to tell the world his story. She is now trying to place a health warning on cell phones to let buyers know the amount of radiation that is emitted by their phone that is similar to the health warning on a cigarette box. She is hoping these actions will open the eyes of cell phone buyers to the danger of excessive cell phone use. When asked if radiation in cell phones causes cancerous brain tumors Mindy responded with “I’m so 100% sure … I’d bet my life on it.” Although she is certain that cell phone radiation caused her husband’s deadly brain tumor, others remain skeptical. Our generation is the most technological advanced generation of all times. If cell phone companies decide to place the warning labels on their boxes then our society will most likely still continue to purchase them. The risk of “catching” a brain tumor from a cell phone is not severe enough for people to put them down for good. If there were more stories like Dan Browns then maybe it would cause people to realize that every time they put a cell phone to their ear they are at risk of getting one of those deadly tumors. Although it may seem impossible to get rid of the cell phone so suddenly, it can save your life.
