“Allatoona High School please make your way down to the floor!” announced the judge over the loud speakers on Saturday, November 13, 2009 at the state competition in Columbus, Georgia. The Allatoona Competition team was shocked and filled with excitement. Being called to the floor is a huge deal; only the top six teams in state make it to the floor. Only being a second year team, Allatoona was honored to be called and the girls were ecstatic. Waiting in anticipation the girls were filled with crazy emotions until they were congratulated for making sixth place in state. Making it to State is a big accomplishment especially being such a new program. The girls’ hard work did not go unnoticed; they practiced long and hard to earn their place at State. Senior Bianca Crawford was asked to do a tumbling skill, a tuck, one last time as a Buccaneer cheerleader, and said, “It was so emotional for me, and it’s strange to think it would be my last time competing for a high school team.”
The girls were tired after their long weekend at State. They left for Columbus Friday morning to compete later that day to move on to the Saturday Competition. The girls had an amazing season with many wins as Grand Champs and are now ranked 6th in State. Allatoona has definitely made their impression on the competitive cheerleading world and have proven they are a team that should not be messed with. Congratulation girls on your incredible win!
